Iran: US sends messages 'every day' to begin negotiations

By Tal Axelrod - 09/08/18 02:28 PM EDT

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the U.S. sends messages "every day" to start negotiations between the two countries.

“From one side they try to pressure the people of Iran, on another side they send us messages every day through various methods that we should come and negotiate together,” Rouhani said Saturday in a speech aired on state television, Reuters reported.

Relations between Washington and Tehran soured after President Trump pulled out of the nuclear agreement reached under the Obama administration. Tensions grew further after Trump reimposed sanctions on Iran last month. More sanctions are expected to go into effect in November against Iran’s oil industry.
