So you want the one entity that actually is a true monopoly and actually has become so big to become tyrannical, to be the arbitrator of who else is too big?
You have a choice not to use Google or Facebook. You don't have a choice but to live under the government, who has a monopoly on force.
Well, sure... as long as you throw away your cell phone. Your iPhone operating system is owned by Apple. Don't want Apple? Everyone else is running Android. Oh, wait. Google runs Android.
But that's OK, because you can download whatever software you want on them. What's that? Oh, that's right. All cell phones are sandboxed, meaning you can only get apps from them.
Besides, whatever happened to "government of the people, by the people and for the people," as Lincoln put it? Don't we collectively control the government? If we had competitive government, that's, ahem, civil war. If our government misbehaves, at least in principle, we have the power to throw the members responsible out of office. If a cabal of "private" publicly held corporations in Silicon Valley seizes control of the communications industry, WE HAVE NO RECOURSE.
