Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum (D) said Sunday that he would increase taxes on corporations in the state to help fund his plan to provide Medicare for all.

Gillum was pressed on CNN's "State of the Union" about his pledge to provide medical care for everyone in his state, including how he would pay for it.

"I don’t buy that," Gillum said when asked if higher taxes are a prerequisite of Medicare for all. "I will absolutely not raise taxes on everyday working Floridians."

The Democrat said he would look to increase taxes on corporations instead, arguing that only 3 percent of companies in the state pay a corporate tax rate.

It’s one thing to make these promises in the course of a campaign.  But reality intrudes on promises once elected. Should this fella be elected as the next governor of Florida, I suspect he will find what states like California, New York, and Vermont found when they tried to implement a universal healthcare system in their states. It simply would’ve overwhelmed their budgets and the reality is you cannot defeat math

The approximate number of Medicare recipients in FL is about 4 million or 20% of the population.  What is absurd is once you hit the age of 65+ (retirement age) you are required to jump onto Medicare.  You are not allowed to keep your private insurance as your primary insurer.

But that is the leftist pol's perpetual pitch to his or her constituents....money grows on trees. The trees being evil, wealthy people who are keeping too much of their ill-gotten money away from the rightful owners of that money i.e. Dem voters.
They'll get elected first, and then worry about the ramifications later.  Many Dem voters hoping for their "free" handout eagerly gobble up promises of "free" goodies.
