Hallelujah hoopla and Aretha's homegoing

Recently, the Queen of Soul went home to be with Jesus.  Aretha Franklin was a woman of faith and for that alone deserves Al Sharpton's "R-E-S-P-I-C-T."  Nonetheless, Aretha's departure from Earth encouraged a series of events that cry out for humorous observation.

Take, for example, the late John McCain controlling his funeral from a casket on display in the U.S. Capitol rotunda, while America's first black president, William Jefferson Clinton, and his bountiful bride, Hillary, headed to Detroit megachurch, Greater Grace Temple, to attend Aretha Franklin's homegoing.
