Character still matters.  It always matters.

I wear a mask as an exercise in liberty and love for others.  To see it as an infringement of liberty is to entirely miss the point.  Be kind.

"Sometimes I think the Church would be better off if we would call a moratorium on activity for about six weeks and just wait on God to see what He is waiting to do for us. That's what they did before Pentecost."   - A. W. Tozer

Use the time God is giving us to seek His will and feel His presence.

I've not stopping @Bigun. If I had stopped I wouldn't be here pointing this crap out along with you. The larger point is, Trump isn't the answer to the corruption or deficits. That should have been self evident before he was elected. The sooner we start putting our efforts into something that can have an actual payoff the better. The Trump administration is already water under the bridge. That bridge is burnt. You can't sow rotten seeds and realistically expect healthy bountiful returns. I'm with @INVAR on this one.
There is a big difference between hoping for great things, and expecting great things. Hope reigns eternal, and all things are possible with The Almighty, but I will take this administration on a case-by-case basis. I can honestly say that I would be happy if it greatly outperforms my initial expectations, especially in re: the swamp and the crony corruption of the previous administration (some ongoing in the backwaters and agencies of this one).

@DB

You may well be right but the record is full of instances of God using very flawed people to get things done and I remain hopefull that he is doing just that with Trump.  I hope I can hang around long enough to find out which of us is correct.

You could say that about Obama. God isn't restricted by us mortals to whom he uses for his purposes.

I'm an engineer... I can't use "hope" as a plan to make something work. I have to have a plan covering the issues at hand and resolve them to the point that it will work. Otherwise it is nearly guaranteed it will fail wasting both time and resources.

Extraordinary work @Bigun   You should have the mods sticky the thread.  It's a great reference.

Question. Maybe you know the answer to this.  It always struck me as "outside the plan" for Comey to reopen the Hillary email investigation at all, never mind so close to the election--even for just a matter of days.  Is there any trail on who ordered this and why?

Thanks.

The swamp is indeed incestuous to a degree few can imagine.

Oh, heck, why hasn't Trump already drained this D.C. Swamp?  He must be playing golf with Obama.  \sarc, of course.

The worst part of all of this is that it's just a SMALL part of the Global Socialist conspiracy.  No kidding.   This mess is the tip of an iceberg of filth.  And if Trump gets removed from office by impeachment or assassination this year, nothing will happen to the foul, anti-American crooks.

I'm sure @Bigun has the scoop on this, but my understanding was a local prosecutor was making so much noise because of the Weiner laptop that Comey felt like he had to 'head the charges off at the pass' and clear them up before the election.

That is my understanding as well. It was done simply to tamp down the minor revolt arising from New York.

I feel sufficiently strongly in  my spirit that Mark Taylor, Kim Clement and others predicting TRUMP's election and success in routing tons of the evil and evil  doers--I feel sufficiently strongly in my spirit that those assertions were authentically from Holy Spirit and that God and God's power, spirit, angel forces and anointing ARE EMPHATICALLY going to pull it off.

My opinion further is that it will be one  last demonstration (before the more wholesale slide to Armageddon) that God IS on HIS throne and WILL judge evil  emphatically--a vivid object lesson--before the planet is shoved wholesale toward hell by the Anti Christ et al. I don't know how long after Trump before things get very dark again--but we have read the end of The Book. Things will NOT be all sweetness and light until the day of Armageddon.

Scripture is also replete with God giving HIS debased and wayward people exactly what they demanded.... to their utter ruination and destruction.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. I simply disagree.

I believe that actually, the rumors about Trump will end up confiscating enough of the wealth of the super evil doers that he will be able to pay off the national debt; build a ton of infrastructure projects AND lower taxes some more.

I realize that sounds preposterous. I still expect to see it happen or something close to that. Time will tell.

There are evidently MANY $TRILLION$ in more or less hidden places managed, controlled by the evil doers.

Yes.  That is also true and one of the reasons I find myself so conflicted.  In the end, just giving up on America is not in my DNA.

Most of those people aren't going to listen to you because they are "principled conservatives" with GAWD on their side.

They are the kind of people, who if they were Generals, would order a frontal assault on a dug-in enemy superior in numbers, and worry about taking out the enemy armor and artillery later.

I FULLY agree with you;  your point has always been one of my concerns.  (I'm not spiritually stupid, I trust.)  But I would urge the real Christians on TBR to do the right thing at this time and pray for our President--lousy though he still happens to be--in order that the true people of God not get what we deserve.  Real Christians aside, I think there are other thoughtlessly sour folks here on TBR who harbor a secret (? )desire to see Trump get deposed--just to prove that they were right about him all the long.

Not a good idea, in my sober opinion.  I am convinced that I have better ways to pray for the revival we need.  And as always, I certainly wish the best for you, my brother.

Nor should you. I just think Trump is a dead end based on his long history. I'm not going to rationalize why stupid stuff is brilliant strategy like so many who really "want to believe" do. Will America change course, I don't know. I sure hope so. Our chances to turn things around are numbered, the debt is piling up and the corruption is getting deeper entrenched. The last big opportunity, the biggest one in decades, we threw away because we didn't have the courage to stand with our principles and instead yielded to fear going for the "one who could win".

And here we are...

I vehemently opposed Trump's nomination in 2016 and sat out the election.  I hoped that he would win (considering the alternative of HRC), but he was going to have to do it without my help.  That's a principled stance, indeed, and it worked out just fine.

And now that Trump is our POTUS--ugly warts and all--my principled, Scriptural stance is that of praying for him--warts and all.

So, yeah, here we are.

I have zero issue with praying for him. None. He needs it.

I have a big issue with rationalizing his idiocy as some sort of brilliance pushing forward the work of God or the country.
