The Hill by Jacqueline Thomsen 8/18/2018

Democratic congressional Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defended banning press from a public town hall this week, saying the move was meant to protect residents of vulnerable communities.

Ocasio-Cortez on Friday responded to a tweet from Washington Post reporter Seung Min Kim, who wrote that the candidate “is in for a rough time on Capitol Hill -- where reporters roam freely at all hours of the day and night -- if this is her attitude toward the press.”

The reporter also tweeted that the campaign should have made the event private, rather than making it public and stopping the press from attending.

Ocasio-Cortez wrote in her response that many people in her district are immigrants, and some are survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking or have “personal medical issues.”

“This town hall was designed for residents to feel safe discussing sensitive issues in a threatening political time,” the candidate tweeted. “We indicated previously that it would be closed to press.”

The event, which took place Sunday in the Queens borough of New York City, was open to the public but not the media.

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
I think it's more that she doesn't like the heat, but I admit she has a point to a certain degree. The media is like a wolfpack these days.
The Republic is lost.

But... isn't her defense of banning the press validating Trump's words and stance on the press?  Is she even intelligent enough to comprehend that?

And that's a whole other angle, unintended as it may be.

I always feel warm all over when a young person learns
something valuable.

Evidently, she missed the moral about proper respect.
Could have received this information from ma and pa.
Or from family, or church, a friend, or an expensive
professor at college. Not sure eastern colleges teach
practicable items anymore.

She could also learned it from the song RESPECT.

But no. She learns directly.

Not bad. More interesting.

Any bets on how long it takes these same people to be included in a democrat campaign ad?

Not only that.... but notice how "feeling safe" is only a Democratic """concern""" if or when it's not a Republican feeling 'threatened' (See:  Sarah Sanders,  Kirstjen Nielsen, Stephen Miller, etc. stalked by leftists while dining out with family)

Damned hypocrites.   They want it both ways, as usual.

I have to agree.
As loony as this gal is, if she wants to have an event "without the press", that's ok with me. (Somehow, word of what goes on there might -still- "get out" into the outside world, official "media" or not).

I didn't mind when Mr. Trump kicked recalcitrant reporters out of campaign events or even the White House Press Room, either.

What's good for the goose, is good for the gander, I suppose.

In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act.
