Trump's military parade is now estimated to cost $92 million – $80 million more than earlier estimate

    President Donald Trump's military parade is estimated to cost $92 million, according to a U.S. defense official with firsthand knowledge of the assessment.
    An earlier estimate pegged the cost at $12 million.
    The parade will take place in the nation's capital on Nov. 10 and will feature armored vehicles, aircraft flyovers and period uniforms.

President Donald Trump's military parade this fall is shaping up to cost $80 million more than initially estimated.

The Department of Defense and its interagency partners have updated their perspective cost estimates for the parade, according to a U.S. defense official with firsthand knowledge of the assessment. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The parade, slated for Nov. 10, is estimated to cost $92 million, the official said. The figure includes $50 million from the Pentagon and $42 million from interagency partners such as the Department of Homeland Security. An initial estimate last month pegged the prospective cost for the parade at $12 million.

And be an incredible waste of money! Obviously there aren't any better uses like our soldiers and their families. What we need is more presence of the military in events in cities and towns around America, get the military back into local  places the liberals have pushed them out of, that would be much more effective than some huge event reminiscent of socialist countries and dictatorships.

The announcement came several hours after reports that the parade would cost about $92-million, according to U.S. officials citing preliminary estimates more than three times the price first suggested by the White House.

Mattis himself said late Thursday that he had seen no such estimate and questioned the media reports.

The Pentagon chief told reporters travelling with him to Bogota, Colombia, that whoever leaked the number to the press was “probably smoking something that is legal in my state but not in most” – a reference to his home state of Washington, where marijuana use is legal.

He added: “I’m not dignifying that number ($92-million) with a reply. I would discount that, and anybody who said (that number), I’ll almost guarantee you one thing: They probably said, ‘I need to stay anonymous.’ No kidding, because you look like an idiot. And No. 2, whoever wrote it needs to get better sources. I’ll just leave it at that.”
