Jordan: If Rosenstein doesn’t deliver, Meadows and I will force impeachment vote
By Jacqueline Thomsen - 07/29/18 07:01 AM EDT

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) said on Sunday that if the Department of Justice (DOJ) doesn’t hand over documents that Congress has requested, he and other lawmakers will force a vote on the impeachment of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

“If they don’t give us the information that we, as a separate and equal branch of government are entitled to have in order to get answers for the American people, then we will actually call to vote for the impeachment of Rod Rosenstein,” Jordan told radio host John Catsimatidis in an interview on AM 970 in New York.

Jordan and Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), leaders in the House Freedom Caucus, led a group of conservative lawmakers in filing articles of impeachment against Rosenstein on Wednesday.

Meadows backed off on that effort one day later following a series of talks with GOP leaders, who largely oppose Rosenstein’s impeachment.

Fantastic...let's see the new minority leader in active failure before he is elected by the House.  You guys can see what your paying for early.

And in this case you would be wrong.  He, or any other member has the power to force a vote on articles of impeachment.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Maybe.  But it will be a dry fart and just blow away in the wind.

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
I'm not sure this is a good tactical move on Jordan's part right now, with the Speakership coming up.

“That’s why if they don’t give us the information, Mr. Meadows and myself and others are going to force an impeachment vote at some point,” Jordan said.

Whatever you say, Gym.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

Waste of time. The main question is there enough votes in the Senate to remove Rosenstein from office? The answer is no.

No Sir!  That is NOT the question!  The Question is will the House do it's duty and not worry about what the Senate may or may not do!

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Sorry, if the official is not going to be removed by the Senate it is a waste of time.

You are entitled to your opinions no matter how grossly stupid they happen to be.

Or.... for folks being able to purchase healthcare across state lines.   That never happened either, did it.   Just another lame-azz promiselie.... one of many.  Too damned many.

As a light skinned heterosexual Christian male of European lineage, it did not take long during that administration to realize I'd be lucky to get through that with my clothes. I made good money, but paid over 500K in taxes on it. I could sure use that money now....

I think what we're witnessing is the olde fashioned cliff-hanger.  Just hold on a little longer....  :silly:

  • WE are NOT ok!

Seems that the healthcare issue has dwindled and the main focus remains Russiagate.  The DEMS really don't have anything really substantial to run on other than the made up Russian collusion that has been dominating the headlines and using taxpayer $$.
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

Yeah, the problem is..... there are many folks out there still ticked off about those broken promises re: Obamacare from the GOPers.   And I suspect that will be reflected in the election results this November.  Hope I'm wrong.
