Sessions announces 'religious liberty task force'
« on: July 30, 2018, 11:02:47 pm »

Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced Monday that the Department of Justice is creating a "religious liberty task force."

Sessions said the task force, co-chaired by Associate Attorney General Jesse Panuccio and the assistant attorney general for the Justice Department's Office of Legal Policy, Beth Williams, will help the department fully implement the religious liberty guidance it issued last year.

The guidance was a byproduct of President Trump’s executive order directing agencies to respect and protect religious liberty and political speech.

Just what we need.   Another unnecessary government agency staffed with more government employees....

that will probably end up getting paid to do next to nothing.

Swell.

That is the question, and you know the answer.  Its in the Constitution.
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

As much as any religion.  They could not discriminate against any.  Not Muslim, Voodoo, Wicca, Satanism...................

Why couldn't we have left well enough alone?  I have always thought the Constitution is enough.  The Muslims are free too to practice, but Sharia law is law rather than religion and not compatible with Constitution.  It infringes on others rights.

It scares me when government gets involved in religion.  Of course all elected officials have freedom of religion but when we start forming task forces that says ding, ding, ding to me.  We already have Constitution and Supreme Court.  What is the task force supposed to do?

Looks like what Jay Sekulow does.  I guess we are all paying lawyer wages for people to fight religious discrimination now.

OK, this could be good as long as it sticks to the scope of what the Justice Department does.  I could have misspoken.  But the lines of religion and social justice have already melted into a big pot of muck.
