Walid Jumblatt hints at the responsibility of the Syrian regime for the Suwaida bombings
25 Jul, 2018 18:02    Syria

The Lebanese Druze political leader and the head of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblat, hinted at the responsibility of the Syrian regime for attacks and bombings of "Islamic State" organization Wednesday in the Syrian province of Suwaida.

Jumblatt said in several tweets: "The question is how quickly did these groups come to Suwaida and its outskirts and committed their crimes before the people of dignity rose up to defend the land and the honor? Is not the brave regime that claimed after the battle of Ghouta that it is no longer there any threats of the "Islamic State" organization? Unless it is necessary to take revenge against the sheikhs of dignity. "

At least 40 people including civilians were killed in a string of Islamic State group suicide attacks against a regime-held area of southern Syria, a war monitor said Wednesday.

"Three bombers with explosive belts targeted Sweida city alone, while the other blasts hit villages to the north and east," said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Rami Abdel Rahman, the head of the Britain-based Observatory, said the group then followed up with further attacks in the province.

Suwaida, Sweida, must be the same place. But suicide belts? If it went down that way.  The situation sounds a bit similar. We will see.

Syrian regime complicity in the attacks of the "Islamic State" against Syria's province of Swaidaa
  25 Jul, 2018 16:50    Syria

According to media and field sources, the Syrian regime withdrew its weapons from the villages of rural Suwaida province before the sudden "Islamic State" organization attack on the province, raising further questions about the extent of the regime's complicity in that event.

The correspondent of the website of "Anab Baladi" reported that the regime forces asked the elders of the village "al-Matuna" days ago to hand over their weapons on the pretext that there is no longer a reason to keep weapons after the end of the "danger" of Daraa and military control, which was reiterated in Swimra on Tuesday.

According to the same source, the villagers handed over their weapons, after the villegers in the "al-Matuna" previously had done a similar step, in collusion with Sheikh "Nazih Jarbo" of the people of the region.
