   NO @skeeter you are CORRECT, WE'D be in a better position, WE must hold the House and gain as much as WE can in the Senate to maintain any semblance of Order.

No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

Are you posting this idiot meme because you're out of ideas or did you mean to post something else.

Because this juvenile reply to a serious post just doesn't cut it.

You've got to cling to this or everything you have posted for two years has been flat out wrong.

But you have no realistic suggestions as to what can be done. Just derision.

If going back to first principles and living them in the culture and then by extension into our politics is not a 'realistic suggestion', then our little experiment in liberty is already over.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

Trump has taken more hits than Sonny Corleone at the toll booth.

No president in history has been under such global, sustained, incoming fire as Donald Trump has, god bless him, and he just shakes it off and moves ahead with his MAGA agenda. A lesser man would have cried uncle long ago, but not Donald Trump. He’s one tough SOB I’ll say.

Herein lies our problem. You are speaking in the abstract, I am referring to the material.

What totalitarianism do you see under President Trump @INVAR ?  Be specific.

I was specifically responding to Fisherrman's comment that he doesn't particularly care about principles or morals, or "any of that crap" because he perfectly content with power without principles or morals.

A more prefect recipe for guaranteed despotic tyranny and horror where liberty cannot exist in any form, one can not find.

That mindset will support whatever strong man promises what tickles their ears and assuages their basest envies, jealousies and desires for retribution and empty promises of peace and prosperity.

Sometimes I think you just throw words around hoping something finally sticks.

That just proves you are woefully ignorant of history and human nature.

Herein lies our problem. You are speaking in the abstract, I am referring to the material.

You can either go back to first principles and recapture our discarded moral and religious heritage, or - you get to enjoy this road to tyranny that we are already on.

Politics is not going to solve our problems. Politics is an indictment of our national character.   Our problems are spiritual and due to a character-deficient people who choose morally-deficient rulers.

Liberty cannot survive or exist much longer in the atmosphere that now exists.  That a good chunk, if not half of the population has diametrically opposite intentions regarding society and government than we do, has already manifested itself into the self-evident reality that we can no longer peaceably coexist.  The foundations have been discarded for ideas anathema to those first principles and religious heritage, and even those supposedly on our side are telling us - they have no use for those principles or morality.

Which consigns us to the same fiery garbage that has plagued every nation on earth until ours.

Political solutions will always and forever undermine if not replace the kind of liberty that was intended for us when the nation and culture have discarded the virtue that maintained it in the first place.  Because as a people discard virtue and maintain its irrelevance - a nation will demand more ironfisted government to impose order- to paraphrase Franklin.

Adams said our system was suitable only for a moral and just people. It’s true we are no longer as moral nor are we as just.

I dislike that reality as much as you. I see where it’s taking us, I know how it’ll end. I’m just not ready to sit on my hands yet. I have too much to lose.

I do Matthew 28:19-20 for starters.

Good.  How are you going to apply this to the national soul?

What I'm trying to determine @INVAR is if you're serious about all the posts you make about what it will take to save this country and have a political strategy (since you're on a political forum) to accomplish your goals.  Or if you're just flapping your gums for attention.

If you do not understand the concept - then there is no way I can explain it to you on this forum without breaching board policy.  Suffice it to say, that when you read the Foudners, you are going to find a universal commonality that a people who are governed by God and religion, are the only people capable of having liberty and maintaining their politics to safeguard it.

What I'm trying to determine @INVAR is if you're serious about all the posts you make about what it will take to save this country and have a political strategy (since you're on a political forum) to accomplish your goals.  Or if you're just flapping your gums for attention.

Politics comes out of the character of a people who use it to either achieve nefarious self-serving ends, or to protect against government intrusion on liberty as the Constitution is constructed.  All for the purpose so we can live our own lives in obedience to our consciences and faith without imposition or hindrance from the state.

Only a virtuous people are going to choose virtuous representatives for virtuous intentions.  But sadly, we have a population nearly wholly ignorant of our foundations, hostile towards the religious morality that set those foundations and whom want the avarice of various isms to satisfy wants using the state to achieve it.  You cannot use politics to impose a cultural virtue and morality to return us to a Constitutional Republic that safeguards liberty.  That simply becomes another form of tyranny.  A virtuous culture however, will select the politics that establish a morality foundational to liberty and a Constitutional Republic.

In short, we were not a nation forged from the top on down, but from the bottom on up.  The Left understood this a long time ago, and they infiltrated set up shop in our schools, universities, our entertainment and communications.  They changed the character of the culture using those tools to get to the point their politics could be elected via subterfuge and infiltration until the point they could run open Socialists/Communists to high office and win.

That is a direct indictment of the church in America, who have failed to influence the culture because they have instead let the culture influence them for the sake of wealth and itching ears.  Get the church to start influencing the culture with the morality and behaviors that uphold the bulwarks of God, family, country and liberty as intended for us, and your politics will follow.  This is why the majority of my posts have a biblical or religious bent to them on this board.  Upholding the principles of virtue is the first step towards reclaiming what we've lost.

Abandoning principles for what is politically pragmatic, consigns us to the fate all republics before ours have succumbed to.

For too many who are politically active in this country - politics IS become their religion, and it explains a great deal as to why we have arrived where we have as a declining culture and nation on the verge of an uncivil war.

Did not the Book say, "Render Unto Caesar"?    Do you really understand what that means?  It means that governments of Man are merely a necessary evil to organize society. God's Kingdom is not of this world.   All we ask from our Government is to allow as Pope John Paul II said, the Freedom to "live as we ought".   What is Trump doing to discourage that?

@dfwgator

How about messing with farmers’ livelihoods and having to fix it with welfare handouts?

The Bible of full of examples of just that. God has always used flawed men for His purposes.

Good point.

If we have it, the statists don't.

Why is that not a good thing? Good grief its not that difficult to grasp.

@skeeter

Power without virtue and morals leads to a bad place.  The Founders knew it and wrote about it.

Many men fought and died for our democracy and the right to vote.  There is no reason to listen to scoundrels that would deride that right.

@TomSea

We don’t live in a democracy.  This is a Constitutional republic.  Were you unaware?

See, at this point it’s not as much Trump for me as his supporters.  This post is an example.  The awestruck hero worship for an adult male from another...well, it’s just gross.  It squicks me the hell out.
