Rand Paul fears Obama CIA chief still has security clearance
'Can he look at all of my information?'
Published: 20 hours ago

Does former Barack Obama CIA director John Brennan, who this week accused President Trump of treason for comments at a news conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin, still have a top-secret security clearance?

If so, as “knowledgeable sources” say, that’s cause for alarm, contends Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky.

“If he has top-secret clearance as unhinged as he is now, he’s calling the president treasonous, saying he is for the death penalty of the president, this is alarming,” Paul said Thursday night in an interview with the Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson, as reported by BizPacReview.

I don't doubt that there are many Bammy holdovers; another one of Trump's mistakes. Not cleaning house as he said he would.  The swamp still needs draining.  Bigly.

Rome wasn't drained in a day. This swamp is called an entrenched bureaucracy because it's dug in deep and can't be entirely uprooted.

Uh.... can we please not use Rome as a reference for our little swamp problem?  Rome was, after all, defeated 'mostly' from within.   ^-^

No quarter given to the enemy within...ever.

Understood.  However, when Trump appoints people like Rosenstein, a member deeply entrenched in the swamp, as the deputy general of the Department of Justice I question his intent and certainly his knowledge.  There have been reports that Giuliani suggested that Trump appoint Rosenstein and now Giuliani is Trump's personal lawyer.  Again, I question his intent and rationale.

I might agree that Rosenstein was a poor choice if I knew what were the choices. Few would have the background to step into that spot.

The primary duty of the Deputy AG is to represent the U.S. in legal matters.  Certainly there must be others who have a strong legal/law background that have worked before representing the U.S.  Ted Cruz is just one that I can think of off the top of my head.

I think Trump's biggest problem with the Obama holdovers at this time may be the Civil Service laws/regs, especially as the rules allegedly provide special protection of the entity known as the Senior Executive Service.  There are reportedly about 8,000 of those firmly entrenched Senior Executives throughout the federal bureaucracy.

(I think POTUS was referring mainly to the SES when he said to the Congress in the recent SOTU address that he wants the power to fire all the folks he needs to fire.  Most Americans probably didn't realize what Trump was talking about, but I'll bet Congress did.  Unfortunately, Congress doesn't want to rock the boat of the Fourth Branch of Government.  (Or considering the media as the Fourth Branch, the federal bureaucracy would be the Fifth Branch.)

Yeah, he needs to clean house.  Bigly.  It's probably going to take a whole lot of criminal investigations and prosecutions, though.
