EARTH MYSTERY NEWS--EMN 13 JUL 2016
However, my experience with an ALS victim was text book as below. If he was right on the edge (as stated below) it would be very difficult to communicate much less have a telephone conversation unless he was on the edge of no longer being able to communicate instead of on the edge of dying.
"Middle Stages:
Speaking, swallowing, and breathing can become difficult as muscles in the mouth, throat, and chest weaken.
Late Stages
As the disease progresses to its final stages, almost all voluntary muscles will become paralyzed. As the mouth and throat muscles become paralyzed, it becomes impossible to talk, eat, or drink normally. Eating and drinking is done via a feeding tube."
Before he was allowed to go he had to sign an oath of secrecy and not tell anyone, and he didn’t in his life tell anyone including his wife. An Air Force buddy phoned me and told me he was dying of Lou Gehrig’s disease, and at that point he thought he should tell someone. I made an appointment with him and my buddy phoned me up and told me “You better get in touch with him right away because he is right on the edge.†I phoned him and he gave me a full report of what he saw and the whole idea of the inside of the craft, and this sort of thing, along with the fact that he had been briefed. He felt that he could now tell, and I would be a good one to tell. Copyright 2016
