Trump wastes no time bouncing back from Russia meddling comments

President Trump clearly felt the burn from the firestorm over his comments regarding Russia’s political meddling and moved quickly Tuesday to try to fix what he broke in Helsinki.
Given the enormously high stakes, his sudden about-face was both welcome and complete.
Reversing his wishy-washy Monday comment that he wasn’t sure whether to believe American intelligence agencies or Vladimir Putin’s “powerful†denial about the 2016 events, the president wisely took the side he’s on.
“I accept our intelligence community’s conclusion that Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election took place,†he said, adding, “It could be other people also.â€
I could do without the mysterious reference to “other people,†but the clarity of his acceptance of the findings should help repair the damage he did to himself, his administration, the GOP and the shudders he caused among America’s NATO allies.
