Quote
President Donald Trump did the opposite of what his staff recommended ahead of his joint presser with Vladimir Putin, ignoring most of about 100 pages of briefing materials outlining a tough stance toward the Russian strongman, according to a report.....

....Aides covered matters from Russia’s annexation of Crimea to its interference in the US elections, but the president threw out the playbook and “made a game-time decision” to handle the summit his way, the second source told the paper.....

More unsourced stories?

Well, Trump is expected to address his summit with Putin at 2 pm ET per Fox News.

We didn't vote for the "staff".

Many did. They touted his bragging that he 'only hires the best and brightest' and 'surrounds himself with the best people' in an excuse to deflect criticisms over his shortcomings and lack of experience in certain areas.

Who is 'staff' and exactly what advice did they give Trump that he ignored.  This is a nothing story.  Just gossip.

If you can find the three people who voted for Trump's staff, I would gladly take them to lunch.

Just because he didn't take their advice doesn't equal "ignoring" them.

Some NeverTrumpers greet every new critical story about Trump with a built-in presumption it’s true and absolute proof that Donald Trump doesn’t know what he’s doing.

But, I think it’s more proof that media-fed Trump hysteria is a real thing and can strike even the most (normally) level headed people. We’ve had plenty of examples of mass hysteria before Donald Trump and we’ll probably have more after him. But, that’s what a lot of this is, mass hysteria.

My qualification is having been "staff" and "corporate officer" plus other positions from school, thru volunteer work post corp career.

I sense a high correlation with "#nevertrumper" and "staff.

And I sense a high correlation with "strong Trump supporter" and "real manager."

Many "staffers" never reach the top. A few do eventually reach the top.

A person would be qualified for staff, due to subject knowledge/competence, judgment, trust.

A good staffer would NOT blab behind his boss's back.

These government type staff that blab, are the worst.

An example of the best, is Dick Cheney.

I've found that most staffers won't blab behind a boss's back if they respect that boss.  If they don't respect that boss, almost anyone is capable of talking behind THAT bosses back.  I think that's exactly what we're seeing here.  I think it's the bosses responsibility to lead in such as way that garners respect from his staff and workforce.  Obviously some bosses are better at that than others.  I've found that the ones who find themselves with the most leaks, rumors, back-stabbing are the ones who have not done enough to garner respect.

In the first year, all we heard about was leaks, leaks, leaks and how Trump had to get rid of the disloyal scum.  Now, we don't believe there are people who would not be happy with yesterday's news conference?  Naivete at its finest.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

They need to state their position publicly and resign.

LOL.  I witnessed such an exchanged between a CEO and his EVP  --- and it was a thing of beauty.

The EVP was all bent out of shape, really confrontational, and accused the CEO of ignoring him (and why did he do this?  He is an expert in this field, well respected .... blah, blah, blah).  The CEO stood up and said:  "I understand that you're upset that I ignored you.  But trust me, my ignoring you was your best option."    88devil
