Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez talks about the 'occupation of Palestine' but she doesn’t know what that means

On the PBS show "Firing Line," Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the rising socialist star of the Democratic party, tried to talk about Israel. In the end, she showed the world that although she might be good at parroting progressive buzzwords, she doesn’t have a clue on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Host Margaret Hoover, who had served in the George W. Bush White House, asked Ocasio-Cortez about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Ocasio-Cortez mentioned the “occupation of Palestine.”

Hoover pressed on her that phrase, and the 28-year old democratic nominee stumbled through her response: “Oh I think … what I meant is that the settlements that are increasing in some of these areas and places where Palestinians are experiencing difficulty in access to their housing.” Eventually, when asked to elaborate, she retreated from her position, backing out entirely and admitting that she had no idea telling Hoover, “I am not the expert on geopolitics on this issue.”

This exchange does not inspire confidence in Ocasio-Cortez or the young progressives she claims to represent. Even with her degree in international relations, the lack of knowledge beyond buzzwords should not be surprising.

I'm fairly sure she knows EXACTLY what she wants to say, but she knows that spouting anti-semitic conspiracy theories won't help her in the general. You'll probably hear her utter stuff about the Jews and Zionists having too much control when the cameras are off. Progressive socialists truly believe Israel is some outlaw state.

So one can be this uninformed and still have a degree in economics and international relations.  SMH.
