Fox News editor: Trump will fly into NATO like a bird and ‘defecate all over everything’
By Justin Wise - 07/11/18 10:19 AM EDT

Fox News politics editor Chris Stirewalt said in an appearance on Tuesday that it is futile for GOP senators to try to push President Trump into having a more mainstream approach to NATO, stating at one point that Trump is likely to fly into this week's summit like a "seagull" and "defecate all over everything."

Stirewalt made the comments during an appearance on "Fox News @ Night" after host by Shannon Bream played a clip of Senate Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) voicing concerns about the NATO summit and the president's upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Among other things, Corker, who has sometimes criticized the president harshly on foreign policy, said that he was worried a bad NATO meeting could lead to the U.S. giving Russia some kind of "consolation."

Stirewalt responded by saying that Republican lawmakers should quit kidding themselves that they can prevent Trump from realigning "U.S. foreign policy to be more favorable towards Russia.”

I have no great respect nor admiration for Stirewalt's political acumen, having worked with him 20 years ago, when he was a lazy barely-competent small-town newspaper reporter. How he went from that to his current lofty position is a constant reminder that sometimes - inexplicably - $#!t rises to the top.

LOL. I don't know anyone who cites him on anything political.

I'm just a little tired of GOP Senators acting like they have no power over Trump. They have legislative power, certainly the Dems wouldn't mind some anti-Trump legislation... use it!

They have, just recently, when they squashed the deal with ZTE.

Odd that Trump is trying to do that as he's so anti-China otherwise...

Interesting to get a personal perspective. I can't stand him and turn the channel when he comes on with his smarmy snark.

Perhaps, that's just what NATO needs.

On this issue I actually do think Trump has a valid point. I heard that Morning Joe and Co were saying what a travesty this was this morning... but he has a point. How does saying Nato needs to increase their military spending help Putin? Just the opposite, actually. Their argument makes no sense.

  • All deserve a trial if accused
Although, NATO has done well in Afghanistan and they supported US action there, per things like Libya, one might wonder for a moment as to whether the best decisions were made.

I don't think he is specifically anti China. He seems to be anti shit deals. Wherever he sees us getting the shaft whether it be defense spending or balance of trade he is on it. About time someone stop and address this shit.

I prefer to think of it as....

Trump will fly in, like a giant eagle....observing everything with a sharp eye.... and with a protective, raptor-like demeanor against any and all enemies of the United States of America  (who would be if they could and/or have been crapping all over America).
No quarter given to the enemy within...ever.

Rush just laid out what's happening:

Essentially, Pres. Trump called out Germany for having a 'secret', side deal with Russia to have a pipeline of natural gas and oil directly to Germany, bypassing friendly EU and NATO countries.  And the global diplomatic world has blown up over it.

Secret?  This has been public talked about in the media for years?

Yes, thus 'secret' in quotes.

The point is that other friendly EU countries weren't consulted about the deal.  Merkel and Germany are now at Putin's whim.

Germany needs to pay its NATO bills.

There is no 'NATO bill.'  It's not a club with membership fees.  The percentage of GDP for military spending is for each nation's own readiness, not some common fund.  They're not getting directly subsidized by us, like a nation such as Israel is, for defense.

Rush further explains:

Putin is attempting to rebuilt the Soviet Union.  NATO exists because of the Soviet Union.

...and here she is, making a sweetheart deal for natural gas and oil directly to Germany, in direct conflict with the reason for the existence of NATO.

President Trump has called her out on it.

Having little or no substance, Fakestream media suggests Trump will Crap all over Crappy meeting.

There is the News, Folks.

If it bleeds, it leads. Or in this case, it craps it leads. Either way, media is dead.
