Trump admin kicking unions out of free govt. office spaces: Pay rent or get out.
BizPac, Jul 11, 2018, Tom Tillison

While organized labor had a friend in former President Barack Obama, who stacked the National Labor Relations Board with career union labor lawyers, unions are now having a harder go at it under the Trump administration.  In fact, unions accustomed to be provided free government office space to conduct their business are finding themselves with an option of either paying rent or being kicked to the curb.

At least two government agencies have begun efforts to implement President Trump’s recent workforce executive orders governing union use of agency property, according to officials with the National Treasury Employees Union.

NTEU President Tony Reardon said last week the Social Security Administration’s Office of Hearing Operations informed the union that it plans to strip it of rent-free office space unilaterally, according to Government Executive.

Health and Human Services has also proposed via bargaining on a new contract that NTEU begin paying rent for office space on agency property.

The moves come as the Office of Personnel Management released guidance last week for agencies to implement Trump’s executive orders “aimed at making it easier to fire federal workers, streamline the collective bargaining negotiation process, and curb union employees’ use of official time,” the government business publication reported.

Hopefully protecting union profits by protecting business's that employ union workers makes up for the lost office space but I would have to work really hard to see this as a bad thing.

This isn't about unions whose members are employed by profit-making businesses (whose access to corporate space is a matter for freedom of contract -- if they negotiated it as part of their contract, they get it, as is right an proper), but unions whose members are employees of the Federal government.  Even FDR thought public-sector unions should not exist, and I thoroughly agree.

Neither public sector unions nor trade unions (which function as guilds, rather than unions, demanding government grants of monopolies) should exist.  Labor unions are a matter of free association and, provided they stick to negotiating pay, benefits and working conditions, rather than acting like trade unions, are a perfectly reasonable part of the free market.
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

He's just trying to fill up empty rental space in Trump properties.  With that being said to maintain my image as a Trump hater here, I must also say that if this pans out I'm actually starting to like some of the stuff his Administration is implementing and may reconsider my vote for Warren in 2020.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

And relinquish your credentials with your Native-American ancestors?  What a sell-out.

Had we never sold Manhattan Island for a few trickets, Trump would not be President.

Had Trump had to make it in LA or Cincinnati as a real estate tycoon things would have turned out much differently @Emjay.  /JS
