Christian Post

A Christian bus driver in Toronto has been charged with a "hate crime" for distributing pamphlets saying homosexuality can lead to diseases and that Jesus can save gay people if they repent.

Bill Whatcott "distributed anti-gay material which promoted hatred toward the gay community," Toronto Police Service said in a statement, adding that he was arrested in Calgary and later returned to Toronto.

The 51-year-old Christian man was charged with "willful promotion of hatred against an identifiable group, namely the gay community."

The pamphlets he allegedly distributed said homosexuality is associated with sexually transmitted diseases, including HPV of the rectum, which the U.S. Centers for Disease Control says is true ...

... The circumstances of his arrest remain, on their face, somewhat baffling. The Toronto Star explains that the warrant was issued two years after the incidents because “police had to ‘liaise’ with the prosecution to approve the charge.” The Star does not elaborate on why 20-odd months of “liaising” was necessary to determine whether a well-known activist’s publically available pamphlets might constitute hate speech. It also quotes a gay activist approving of the hate speech arrest as “positive.” ...

Can't wait to hear how this squares with western ideals of tolerance and freedom of expression. In the legal sense.

Free speech rights have clearly eroded in Canada, owing to its enduring romance with Progressivism.

As is now customary in such cases, neither objective reality nor honest faith are held as justifiable reasons for speaking truth to the politically powerful.
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Canadians wouldn't know how to act if they had a Constitution - including Bill of Rights - like ours. Free speech? What's that?

What leftists are saying is that telling a certain group that their activities are wrong and need changing is practicing "hate."
By that "logic," leftist protesters should be prosecuted for hate crimes for showing up at  right-wing rallies and/or confronting conservative pols.  They're certainly far more hateful than the religious people who sincerely want to save souls.
Naturally, leftists can't see the contradiction in their fascist attitudes because their pet groups are "protected" groups who can't be criticized for any reason.
Canada now joins Britain and a number of other western countries in the march towards full fascism.
"Agree with us, or we'll throw you in prison."   Stalin wouldn't have done it any different.
