CLEVELAND, Ohio - A re-enactment of a dramatic rescue of a fellow submarine crew during World War II will be staged at the USS Cod Submarine Memorial, 1201 North Marginal Road, on Saturday at 2 p.m.

On July 8-10, 1945, the USS Cod was dispatched to the aid of the Dutch submarine O-19 that had run aground in the Pacific.

When the Dutch vessel could not be pulled free, the 56-man crew was transferred to the Cod and the stranded sub destroyed to keep it from falling into enemy hands.
