Went to Six Flags up in Chitown back in June. It would appear the rumors that local teens were passed up for seasonal jobs this year are true. Nearly ALL of their staff are foreign workers, especially in food service. Their name badges list their nation of origin and most were South American, African or Middle Eastern. The food lines everywhere were a nightmare of an hour or more wait just to get a refill on a $17 all-day drink cup. They were in no hurry to serve anyone, badly trained and could barely speak adequate English enough to handle any complex question. When I asked one how he managed to get a job here in the US, he said he was in a sponsored program that the US government recruits them for and provides everything including visas and expenses.
Meanwhile, my nephew cannot get a part-time job up there. But being the Chicago area - he is likely the wrong color and work ethic. They got quotas to fill before they try hiring Anglos.
