Leftist Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has declared victory in Mexico's presidential election, as preliminary results showed he had secured a landslide win.

President-elect Lopez Obrador is estimated to have received over 53% of the vote, more than double the total of his closest rival, according to the country's electoral commission.

"Today, they have recognized our victory," Lopez Obrador, known by his initials AMLO, told a crowd of jubilant supporters at an event in Mexico City late Sunday local time.

I haven't really followed the Mexican election.  However, when America voted for 'change' in 2008, it wasn't such a great outcome.

Unless they voted to change ruling drug lords, this election was meaningless.

The Anti-Trump campaigning worked.

Hammer the entire anti-ICE, open borders Dem coalition on whether they support AMLO's call for Mexico's citizens to bum rush the border, and watch them squirm.

It took about 15 years for Chavez and company to seize power to the point of ruin.

The 2030's may be pretty a turbulent time at our border.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

They will consider pardoning a lot of people in the drug war to start to try to cool things down.

Too much narco-money, too much corruption, too big of a country, some very remote parts.  It would be hard to tame.

May, 2018 was the most violent month since 1997; it brought me to think, "you mean it was even as violent back then in '97?" That is some landmark.

Per the report I heard on Fox this morning he's open borders...thinks his people have a right to move to the U.S....wants to give amnesty to pot growers in his country...says it's not his job to fight the U.S.'s drug war and is vowing to pull back the military from fighting the cartels.

It's not gonna be such a great outcome for Mexico either I'm afraid.

Andrés Manuel López Obrador wins Mexican presidential race

This is another Hugo Chavez.

Quote
Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who rallied voters with his battle cry against corruption and promises to the poor, won a resounding victory on Sunday night in Mexico's presidential election, after the concession of his two top rivals. The victory makes him the first leftist president since Mexico began its transition to democracy more than 30 years ago.
López Obrador triumphed with a party that didn't exist at the time of the last election, against opponents from two parties that have ruled Mexico for nearly a century. The 64-year-old former Mexico City mayor promises to bring his humble lifestyle and distaste for luxury to the top of a political establishment famous for self-enrichment....

That's actually one of his promises, but he is making that promise on a strong-arm socialist platform.

Back in the good ole days.....

the US CIA actually used to work FOR the USA in nations like this.... by undermining the leftist dictators there.   I long for those days at times.   Especially now.  And especially since it is much more likely that our own CIA will be working against the USA and for those leftist rulers....now.

So basically we can see a second war with Mexico within our lifetimes. Maybe this time we do it right.

If it happens it's gonna be a 360 degree fight.  The "enemy" is already here.

That simplifies our problem of getting to these people and killing them.

Jumping out of the frying pan into the fire is change but maybe not the change you are looking for.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

I posted the following to TOS on April 1, 2006. I did not save the URL to that specific post, but I did save the content to my archives. Here it is, as it was posted then:
===================
The writer of this article is behind the curve. I proposed war upon and annexation of Mexico a few years back. I may have been the first person to do so (since the _last_ war with Mexico in the nineteenth century).

There is a choice to be made here. That choice is:
1. Conquer, or,
2. BE conquered.

If you do not believe answer #2 could happen, go to parts of California RIGHT NOW. Are they still the United States? Or do they more resemble another country, another culture?

A real "shooting war" with Mexico would last about 30 minutes once our troops began advancing - about as long as it would take the Mexican soldiers to decide which end of their guns they should throw down first. They would make the French look lethargic by comparison.

I wonder what percentage of the Mexican population despises their government, and [regardless of what they might say for public consumption] would welcome the possibility of U.S. statehood.

it is becoming obvious now that NEITHER party - not the Democrats, and certainly not the Republicans - is going to do much of anything to try to stop the ongoing invasion of our country. There is going to be amnesty, mark my words. It may not be _called_ "amnesty", but that's what it's going to be.

And once it happens, not only will you see the continuing flood of Mexicans across the border, but an ever-increasing flood of Central and South Americans, as well.

An American "Camp of the Saints".

As I stated above, we have two choices.

I know which one I prefer.
===================
Me speaking today:
Twelve years haven't changed anything.
Again -- conquer, or be conquered.
