Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), chairman of the House Oversight Committee, is retiring from Congress at the end of 2018 after serving four terms. A former federal prosecutor, Gowdy said he will pursue a legal career upon his retirement from politics.

But if Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), a good friend of Gowdy’s, has anything to say about it, Gowdy’s post-retirement plans may find their way to the Supreme Court.

Scott revealed in an interview with CNN’s Van Jones over the weekend that he plans to recommend Gowdy to be one of the candidates President Donald Trump considers to fill the upcoming Supreme Court vacancy.

“I’m going to recommend Trey Gowdy be one of the folks that I would have a strong recommendation for him serving on the Supreme Court. I hope that the President will be open to that recommendation,” Scott said, according to CNN.

Good conservative background.  But........    I still think he had as much to do with letting Hitlerly off the hook in 2016 as anyone.  Will he deliver?
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

  • WE are NOT ok!
I doubt it as he's not on the list of potentials and I don't think he's on Trump's list of conservative possibilities.
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

Well, there was the story earlier where Collins said the WH may expand the list.

I really don't want to see Gowdy on the USSC.  His past inconsistency is troubling, to say the least.  We need a rock-solid conservative that can be counted on not to waffle or mysteriously change his stance on any issue.  Gowdy ain't it.

She has the voice of a 12 year old and some people still think she killed that chick in Italy when she was younger.

I certainly don't like her voice but maybe it is not as annoying live, could be just a bad recording.

I'm most impressed that she was heavily influenced by Justice Scalia. As she eloquently lays out, Scalia was the man.

Since she is on the short short list I went and watched her confirmation hearing. I was very
impressed with her. She is really smart and hammered away that she would always follow the law.
I have no problem with her being nominated. She would be a great judge in the manner of Scalia.
Tops in her class at every school shes attained, recommended by all coworkers she ever worked
with going back to when the clerked out of law school. Twice voted top professor a N.D.

Trey doesn't belong on the court. He's a prosecutor and a good one.

Nope there's better choices out there.
The libs/dems of today are the Quislings of former years. The cowards who would vote a fraud into office in exchange for handouts from the devil.

Amy seems alright, still, the SCOTUS should be a reflection on America. We've already had plenty of Catholics, Scalia is clearly one of our best Justices ever and was Catholic,  and Jews on the court. I think Amy went to Notre Dame some. Though Trey might not be right choice, perhaps some choice with an Evangelical background, same as Trey's, could be selected.

What's important though is how they vote, if Trey is a staunch conservative, that'll work.
