‘The Expanse’ Moves to Amazon for Season 4

“The Expanse” has officially been picked up at Amazon for a fourth season.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos made the announcement at the National Space Society’s International Space Development Conference in Los Angeles Friday night.

“The Expanse” is currently airing its third season on Syfy, with the cable networking having cancelled the series earlier this month. Shortly after it was cancelled, it was reported that Amazon was in talks to continue the series, which is produced and fully financed by Alcon Television Group.

“We couldn’t be more excited that ‘The Expanse’ is going to continue on Amazon Prime,” said Alcon Entertainment co-founders and co-CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson. “We are deeply grateful that Jeff Bezos, Jen Salke, and their team at Amazon have shown such faith in our show. We also want to thank Laura Lancaster, head of Alcon Television for her tireless efforts. We are fully aware that this wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for the staggering outpouring of support from the most creative, hardest working sci-fi fans around the world. From reddit campaigns to airplanes, we say thank you. It worked!”

Well, that sucked.   First episode I didn't even bother watching halfway through.

Once an avid fan, season 1,2, I've stopped watching it now. Season 3 has me so confused that I cannot follow the show anymore. I simply have no idea what is going on. Of course I get the meta overview big picture, the thing has caught the ships in a gravity well which it is able to adjust to affect time, etc. I get it. But I don't get it?

And the finer details of the plot left me behind several episodes ago. I'll probably watch it again eventually. I'm just waiting for them to resolve this 'ring' thing, and to get back to normal reality which I can comprehend without stretching my brain all out of shape. I would likely understand season 3 better if I dropped some LSD.

Season 3 is busy, with a lot going on. The Ring (no spoilers) will factor into the future of the series, I would think significantly. I really didn't have much trouble understanding what is going on, but I watched it 2 episodes at a time, which might help tie things together.

That's kind of the point. I'm waiting for season 3 to come out on Amazon Prime. It may take many months but I can wait. I think if watch it back to back I'll get a better idea about what they are getting at. I understand 'what' is going on. I just don't understand the point of it all.

You find out at the end of the season, if you haven't pretty much zeroed in on the purpose of the Ring by then.

I think it's a great show.  I love the character development, the plot is excellent, and the science works.

The point is...... for those who have become fans of "The Expanse".... rather than paying Direct TV/Time Warner/AT&T for access to the SyFy Channel.... you will now have to pay MORE money to Amazon if you want to continue watching it. 

This truly is the era of "don't bend over", IOW.  They're going to ream you for yet more of your $$$ one way or another.
