OANN has a lot of youth and sometimes, I think their writing, editorial, reporting skills clearly show a lacking.

This Emerald was probably a lot in her teens or less, when, say Krauthammer was a big supporter of Dubya.

I appreciate OANN to an extent but it isn't for their journalistic talents in my opinion, that Toni Lehren is basically nowheresville as well, imho.

He never should have signed that bill.
Yet he justified the spending as national defense, the #1 leg of conservatism, which was like Reagan.

Trump inherited the international security stage in horrific condition thanks to Obama, career policy "experts,"  So called allies too weak to recognize that they were complicit in such mistakes as the Iran nuclear fiasco, etc.

I am far more confident over our future, because Trump is the first chance since Reagan of a Republican with a pair and a willingness to confront important issues.

The economy is growing faster than expectations. Trump could easily pull a Reagan and grow the economy enough to offset spending.

2nd Quarter GDP projected to be 3.3 percent, just revised up to 3.6 percent.

Who knows how far this could go with optimism and the economy up.

Generally less of a revenue problem, that an expenditures problem.

BOTH parties don't want to pull anybody from Government Teat

Trump deserves credit, for reinstating work fork for welfare.

Well, this thread should go well.

I'm not sure why some folks feel compelled to dance on the graves of those they feel have been proven wrong.  Isn't it more effective -- not to mention more gracious -- to simply jointly celebrate good news, rather than engaged in a bunch of "nyah nyah, I told you so's?"

I have been asking that question for ages on this very forum and have not yet received a reasonable answer.  !'ll wait.  (Be advised that simply asking can cost you friends!)

Which of the many optimists here are ready to put their money where their mouth is?  I propose a bet of $100 to Nancy and TBR.  I say the US will end 2018 with a budget deficit using US Treasury data as the source of data for the bet.  Through May we're looking at a deficit of $532B and

Official White House data suggest deficits are increasing, too. The White House's Office of Management and Budget says the deficit is rising from $665 billion in 2017 to $832 billion in 2018 and will approach $1 trillion annually in 2019.

Traditional conservatives can credit the Trump presidency (and the GOP Congress) for court nominations, and tax cuts and regulatory relief that have led (so far) to a booming economy.   These are significant accomplishments,  but certainly not outside the GOP mainstream.  (And they have come with costs - tariffs that may harpoon the economy,  runaway deficits and not a whiff of progress so far on entitlement reform.)

Most of us have chosen to hold our noses over the stink of Trump's boorishness, culture-baiting and reality-show Presidency.   The GOP is hardly the party of Trump, not unless and until it is proven at the polls that voters value the good stuff over the bad.   Maybe there will be a red wave this fall, maybe not,  but Trump will not himself be on the ballot.   I will enthusiastically support the GOP this fall,  but I have by no means decided to support Trump if he decides to run for reelection.   The man's dysfunctional,  and it is not a matter of coastal vs. flyover "culture" to say so.

Because they have already told us, they plan to relish and enjoy every opportunity to poke and punch us in the face because we did not march in lockstep with them, because we are enemies and traitors to be destroyed along with the Left.

They have made this abundantly clear: either we are with them and Trump 100% or we are against them 100%.  Pick the correct side or get destroyed, they have told us.

Even today this quote was rendered: "Get on the bus, or get run over BY the bus....".

Like the Left, you get ultimatums or threats with ForeverTrump®s.

Gracious is not something that is germane to their mentality.  Vicious is.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

I just don't get it.  The entire argument by some of those Trump supporters to NeverTrumpers is that the NT's must get over the fact that their guy didn't win the primary, but they themselves just can't let the election itself go.  They want other people to "move on", but they won't do that themselves.

I didn't vote for Trump in the primaries, but I voted for him in the general election.  I think those conservatives who didn't were wrong, but SO FREAKING WHAT!?!?!  We disagree.  Big deal.  Move on without trying to repeatedly bring up the same topic on which we know there isn't agreement.

I just don't get it.  The entire point of some of those Trump supporters is "lets move past the primary debates, and just support him when he does the right thing", but they simply cannot resist  not moving on themselves.

And that right there is the only time the two of us will agree on anything this year. I can't even find a copy of this movie anywhere. I can only find the trailer.....

My perspective, having 20/20 hindsight may seem unfair.  After all, if anybody in this joint can say "I told you so", it's me.

And that jab is nothing more than giving a noogie to a FRiend...for not being as 'smart' or perceptive as you apparently weren't/aren't.

Nothing different than @Bigun in here puffing over the Astros.

My guy/team won.   You got your ass handed to you.

Now, we've got 1-1/2 years of Donald Trump becoming more significant than any president since Abraham Lincoln...and yet I'm supposed be treat with deference those among us too vain/arrogant to get on board and cheer this man on?

They can go get their shine box, far as I'm concerned.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Now, that said, I've been engaging in good conversation with many more Briefers lately and hope to continue in that vein.

My new attitude is...don't make fun of confused people.  And laugh a lot.
