  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
On Tuesday, the upstairs-downstairs politics of the Democrats convulsed. New York Democrats elected Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and sent Joe Crowley, the fourth most powerful Democrat in the House, to his early retirement. The demographic fault lines of the Democratic Party are once again on display. This time, their donor class worries as intersectionality, in all of its aggrieved glory, occupies the national stage.

Let us be clear that Ocasio-Cortez is an unvarnished leftist. Think of Jeremy Corbyn and Bernie Sanders, just younger and ungrizzled, and she does not bother to hide it. Socialism is her badge of honor. When Ocasio-Cortez claims that Hamas is simply a Palestinian analog to the Ferguson protests, take her conviction and sincerity as givens. You can also place a good bet that come 2020, Ocasio-Cortez will be the keynote speaker at the Democratic National Convention.

Good.  Let's let the rats destroy themselves with their own desperation attempts at pushing us even further left than they already tried with Obama.  Let the nation observe what they would "fundamentally transform" America into if they could.  We already had an eight year preview and it was one of the most stagnant, going-in-reverse episodes this nation has seen since the FDR days.  The economy is on the upswing.  Most thinking adult Americans will want that trend to continue.... despite any idiotic tweets or comments by Trump.  So let the leftists choke on that reality.  I'm stocking up on popcorn for just that event.

No quarter given to the enemy within...ever.

You can vote your way into socialism, but you have to shoot your way out of it.

Joe Crowley should do what Senator Joe Lieberman did back when he lost the primary here in Connecticut -- run as an independent in the general.

Lieberman won re-election as such.
(Interestingly, in that election the Republican candidate for U.S. senator won a whopping 17% of the total votes cast)

New York doesn't have a "sore loser" law to my knowledge.
If I was Mr. Crowley, I'd be up in Albany filing the papers tomorrow.
