Despite initial gut-feels that I'd be against it, I must admit that it's looking more and more like that's the appropriate solution for America's future, if we're realistic.

It opens up a question, though.  Our republic is founded to protect natural rights, but are there natural responsibilities, too?  Are we our brother's keeper, if we're not Judeo-Christian?  That is, does the state have a natural mandate to mandate responsibility?

I don't know.  I'm eager to hear others' thoughts, as I formulate my own opinion.

There's another terrifying correlation out there: violence correlates not with poverty, but with wealth inequality.  We either go down the sewer of socialist-style wealth redistribution, or we continue on the path of greater wealth inequality and the
instability that fosters, or we find a smart solution.  Why do I have low hopes for us?
But I can see "have nots" scrambling to survive and turning their desperation against a more and more insular "haves" side of things.

You may not agree, but I think Obama did a lot to set in motion the "have-nots" wanting what the "haves" had/have.  His free phones, etc., set the "have-nots" wanting government to make them equal to the "haves". They get free government services to feed them, house them, give them Obamacare, etc..  They will never be satisfied with less now, will keep demanding more.  That will take down a country and we are on that path.

BS is all I have to say.  But since you are talking about sh______ countries have you noticed that people are no safer from MS-13 here than in their country of origin?  That is because they bring their sh_____ problems with them.

BTW if was fully explained to me by a co-worker why they come here.  Easier to start a business.  Easy to get employment.  Send money home where they already have house and property waiting for them to return.

And who wouldn't call their own country a sh______ when they can come here and take our jobs.  Have us pay for their education, health, and food?  Where they get ITIN so that they can get loans to start businesses, buy brand new cars and trucks.........  It pays to come alright.  Its only the citizens that are living in this illegal immigrant sh______.

Nobody here is against legal immigration, for those who want to go through the process.  The way I see it, illegals have this attitude of "The US owes us because they stole our land, and we think their immigration laws suck, and we don't care, we are going to come in anyway."

I don't disagree.   But employers care only about getting the workers they need to stay in business.   Some of them turn to illegals. 

I agree that the systemic problems that create this dynamic must be addressed.   But the President says that illegal immigrants "infest" this country and are "bad . . . like MS-13".  That is condemning folks who are rationally responding to employers seeking their services.   And yes, that is appealing to folks' racism, since most illegals are (let's be honest) nonwhite.   

Yes, the laws should be enforced,  but let's not use hard working folks as pawns in racist agendas (the Dems love to do that; I prefer as a Republican that we not imitate that crapola).  Let's not forget the role played by employers in drawing them here, or the policies of government that make it uneconomic to hire "above-ground" workers in many occupations.   

Those hard-working folks are already law breakers.  That's what illegal means.  Look it up.

But the employers who employ illegals need to be dealt with relentlessly.  They should be warned, fined and then jailed, if necessary.

The other thing that gets lost in the discussion is there is dignity in work. If we can force people off the dole over time most of these people will begin to take pride in pulling their own weight and will feel better about themselves and their future.

I agree.  @bilo  There is something rewarding and fulfilling in even menial jobs.  Do a days' work, get a days' pay.  It's not good for grown men (or women) to sit around getting by on welfare. 

It's demeaning and demoralizing.  We need to cut the welfare roles for people who can work.

This is true, people in the 80s IQ are regarded as "dull normal", in fact down through the 70s.  They have to have a job that is repetitious so decisions don't have to be made.  If those jobs go away, these people will be on welfare.  I can't imagine how different this country will be in 10-15 years as technology races to replace humans.

Farm machinery eliminated a lot of cotton-pickin' farm work.  The buggy manufacturers went out of business.

But society has always managed to cope and each scientific develop leads to new, although different, jobs.

Wow, unprofessional.  Unbelievable.  Very ugly.   

However there are lots of stories.  Nobody can verify if that was even true, and could have been another made up liberal story.  I can't imagine any staff separating a Down Syndrome child from a parent.  And equally I think it would be apprehensible for a parent to put a Down Syndrome child at risk to cross the border illegally.

OK, so I really wanted to know about this Down Syndrome child.  The Mexican officials say the father is a legal resident who lived 60 miles away.  We say we are still evaluating the father and they should.  The brother and sister are twins who crossed illegally with the mother. 

I read this entire article.  It is mostly about the condemnation against us from those sh___hole country government officials.  What they are saying is that people are trying to escape their own sh_____hole countries to come to our sh_____hole immigrant system.  Funny but El Salvador admits they are so bad their citizens need to flee, but we are worse?
