F-15 crashes near Kadena Air Base
An F-15 Eagle fighter jet crashed earlier this week near Kadena Air Base in Japan. The pilot ejected and was rescued but was listed in serious condition after the accident. The Air Force said the cause of the crash was still unknown.
An Air Force F-15C Eagle crashed Sunday morning off Okinawa, Japan, officials from Kadena Air Base said.
The incident happened about 6:30 a.m. local time during a routine training mission, officials said.
The jet crashed in the water south of Okinawa. The pilot successfully ejected and was safely recovered by a Japan Air Self-Defense Force search and rescue team from Naha Air Base on Okinawa, Kadena said.
