Perhaps because in the past north south relations were a regional matter. Like it or not they no longer are.

If they were purely regional, we wouldn’t have kept a military presence - and for a time - tactical nuclear weapons there.

I agree, let's talk about what happens and not make it personal or idol worship. If Trump succeeds where others haven't I will be happier than a pig in shit. I will hope for positives, he sure as hell can't do worse than those before.

This political thread, as most do, turned into personal attacks.  Trump is going to talk to Kim. No one knows what is going to be said.  It is a one day meeting that may turn into two or three days according to Trump, or one walks out before the first day has ended.  It is a total unknown so I don't see the reason for the angst in this thread.  If we are allowed to hear the men speak to each other, then we will have something to discuss.  I hope that doesn't turn into attacking each other as this thread has.

South Korea maintains a quick response team in Singapore to coordinate with the United States and North Korea and inform the media of Seoul's position.

Nam Gwan-pyo, deputy director of the presidential office's National Security Office, has joined Suh Hoon, director of the National Intelligence Service (NIS) in Singapore ahead of the June 12 summit.

Nam is also accompanied by Lee Do-hoon, as special representative for Korean Peninsula peace and security affairs.

Besides them, at least two working-level public relations and one security-related presidential aide are in Singapore. They are to brief Korean reporters on the outcome of the summit.

NIS Director Suh has worked with the North's Kim Yong-chol, Kim Jong-un's top man in South Korea affairs, and U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. The three have worked together in the lead-up to the summit.
