Trump to leave G7 summit early, head to Singapore
NY Post, Jun 7, 2018, Joe Tacopino

President Trump is leaving the G7 summit early this weekend and heading to Singapore in advance of his highly anticipated meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, The White House said Thursday night.

“President Trump will depart the G7 Summit at Charlevoix at 10:30 a.m. Saturday,” read a statement from White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders.

“The President will travel directly to Singapore from Canada in anticipation of his upcoming meeting with North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un Tuesday.”

Everett Eissenstat, deputy assistant to the president for International Economic Affairs, will remain at the G7 sessions in the president’s place.

The announcement comes hours after Trump blasted Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as “indignant” in a tweet on Thursday and assailed both Canada and France for their trade policies.

Trump is scheduled to meet with Kim Jong-un on Tuesday.
