CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - The family of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student David Hogg was "swatted" Tuesday morning, causing police to respond to their Parkland home.

A call came into the Broward Sheriff's Office claiming a hostage situation at the home.

Coral Springs Fire Rescue arrived at the scene to find there was no hostage situation and the call was a prank.

Hogg was not home at the time of the incident and is currently in Washington, DC with his mother to accept the RFK Human Rights award.

Sky 10 was over the home as units were staged outside as a precaution. BSO responded with multiple crews and a police helicopter.

Swatting is the action of making a prank emergency call to bring about a response of armed law enforcement officers.

A phone call about a possible hostage situation in Parkland on Tuesday morning led police officers to swarm the home of one of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School's most outspoken student activists.

It turned out to be a prank called "swatting" — an illegal hoax call increasingly employed as a harassment tactic.

June 5 was also the date a book about the Parkland school shooting and the subsequent teen-led gun control movement, authored by Hogg and his sister Lauren, was scheduled for release, WSVN reported.

As Twitchy told you, earlier this morning, someone (or someones) SWAT-ted David Hogg’s house. Fortunately, Hogg and his mother were out of town and no one was hurt.

Conservative outlet after conservative outlet rightly decried the SWAT-ting incident, but according to the dipsticks at Media Matters, conservative outlets are to blame for what happened. Yes, really:
