For the first day of hurricane season, prepare to be prepared
https://www.houstonchronicle.com/opinion/editorials/article/For-the-first-day-of-hurricane-season-prepare-to-12958618.php

...Hurricane season starts today. Do yourself a favor. Don’t postpone your preparations until everybody else is raiding stores for storm supplies. Don’t wait until all the lumber places have sold all their plywood and the supermarkets run out of canned goods and bottled water. Be prepared now to be prepared later.

Stockpile at least a three-day supply of non-perishable food and water. That’s actually pretty easy. Figure on a gallon of water per person. Grab a bunch of canned goods, and don’t forget you’ll need a manual can opener. Remember that peanut butter and jelly sandwiches can go a long way.

Make sure you’ve got all the flashlights and batteries you’ll need if you lose power. If you don’t already have one, consider buying one or more of those portable power banks for your cell phones. If you have a gas stove there’s a good chance it will still work after the storm, but remember that the igniters that light your burners may be powered by electricity. That’s one of the good reasons to make sure you’ve got a lighter or matches.

Even if you don’t live in a flood plain, make sure you have flood insurance.

Come up with an evacuation plan now....
