The American side of the trade war with Europe

Unable to get the European Union to renegotiate trade agreements, President Trump announced the imposition of tariffs on steel and aluminum from Europe. The press in America naturally sides with Europe, which is becoming more like the Soviet Union by the day.

Which leaves it to me to tell the American side of the trade war with Europe.

First, the trade war is never-ending.

Exactly. I love how all these people railing against Trump raising tariffs never bring up that our products are taxed to hell overseas. The stupid Krauts bang us 10% on our cars sold there so they can keep their Socialist auto unions fat and happy while their shit rolls in here with under a 3% tax. Eff that.

We would have to go country by country to see how equitable is the tariff balance to know if Trump is simply evening the score. I see nothing wrong with evening the score.

It is also the best time to squeeze these bastards in new negotiations because the US economy is humming and the EU, Japan and Mexico are flat on their back. We can take a little pain, they sure as shit can't. Let's see Merkel run her fat trap when layoff slips hit her voters in Munich and Stuttgart.

What happened to the 30% you were raving about on another thread?

Alright. 30%. Feel better now? I know I do every time Donny raises another effing tariff on one of your Socialist pals overseas.

Now explain why you’re conflating tariffs with VAT, or what amounts to more or less the same thing: sales & use tax.

How about I don't bother explaining shit to you because I don't like you.

That’s as good as a concession from you.  Thanks.
