PITTSBURGH (KDKA/CNN) — Roseanne Barr blamed the sleep aid Ambien for a series of racist tweets that resulted in the cancellation of her show “Roseanne” by ABC on Tuesday.

Barr tweeted, “guys I did something unforgiveable so do not defend me. It was 2 in the morning and I was ambien tweeting.”

In another tweet, Barr doubled down, saying that she has “done weird stuff while on ambien-cracked eggs on the wall at 2am etc –”

Ashleigh Koss, a spokeswoman for the North America region of Sanofi, the maker of Ambien, said in a written statement Wednesday, “While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication.”  .  .  .

A continuation of the article shows that Ambien has a great many detractors.  It was the medication that Patrick Kennedy used to explain his erratic behavior in at least one car crash.

If one needs help in going to sleep, instead of Ambien, they should try giving up coffee, exercising, and  banning all electronic usage within 2 hrs of bedtime.

Ambien causes you to eat the entire contents of the fridge, take a walk naked at 3am, or wake up at a co-workers house again naked in a compromising position with thier cat.

It does not cause you to be Roseanne Barr.

I does do that..my older sister and husband could not figure out why the freezer door would be open all night and fudgesicle wrappers. ice cream containers would be all over the kitchen counters...then one night my bil heard a noise in the kitchen and went to investigate with his loaded gun and found my sister standing there eating ice cream out of the container....that was the end of her using ambien.

It also encourages you to buy stuff on EBay and other shopping sites. Don't ask me how I know this. lol There have been times I have woken up to an email thanking me for my order. lol Fortunately, nothing major and nothing I would not have wanted. I have learned, when I take one, to make sure I stay off the computer.

Ambien used to make me wake up with an empty refrigerator and a full credit card but it never made me racist.
