Trump suggests historic summit with North Korea could be delayed

President Trump on Tuesday suggested the historic summit between him and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un could be delayed past the scheduled date of June 12 in Singapore, amid threats from the rogue regime to cancel talks after U.S.-South Korean military exercises.

The president’s comments came during an Oval Office meeting with visiting South Korean President Moon Jae-in. The two leaders discussed a strategy for denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, and Trump’s potential upcoming summit with Kim.

“If it doesn’t happen, maybe it will happen later. You never know about deals. I’ve made a lot of deals, you never really know,” Trump said about the summit. “It may not work out for June 12.”

Last week, North Korea cancelled a high-level summit with South Korea, and threatened to cancel the meeting with Trump following U.S.-South Korean military exercises, which the rogue regime’s media outlet suggested were a rehearsal for a potential invasion of the North.

Backing a bit off a hard date, may help Kim realize he isn't able to apply pressure by threatening not to come.

Something will get done eventually, I expect.  I see president Trump not accepting the past status quo with NK.  It will change.  Kim can be part of the change, or just the receiving end of the change.

I think this could be a good thing especially if it curbs expectations a bit.  Hopefully, it will solidify the view that we’re dealing with a lying scoundrel who can’t be trusted to abide by any agreement he makes.

Obama barely had time to take his first cup of coffee in the White House before getting a Nobel Prize. And for what? His America Sucks world tour?

Trump at least is doing something concrete that could pay off in stabilizing the Korean Peninsula. Now that would be an achievement worthy of the prize.

I happened to catch the video with the SK President.  Trump made the remark about the summit perhaps not happening on the originally scheduled date but he didn't put much emphasis on it.
