Stefan Halper, the dual U.S.-U.K. citizen who reached out to Trump campaign aides George Papadopoulos and Carter Page, is the international man of mystery when it comes to the origins of the FBI counterintelligence probe of the Trump campaign and presidency.  From public records, we know he was receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars a year from the federal government national security apparatus.

The timeline on this Long Term Strategy Group places it's creation under GW Bush.

I don't see any direct tie to POTUS. With millions of employees and contractors there is no real control over activities, not even under the nominal authority of the DoD.

Oh. So Bush didn't have any idea WTF his government was up to. Rummy never bothered to fill him in with all the illegal shit he was up to on a daily basis. Good to know.

Getting back to Halper, I'm glad this info is being dug out.

Quote
Calls to the Department of Defense indicated that the department had no listing for either that office or its head, James Baker.....

That's because the Office of National Assessment is not a US agency, it is Australian. https://www.ona.gov.au/

It is basically a government run think-tank, so they probably were paying for guidance/information in working with the new administration.  I don't see anything fishy here other than The American Thinker not doing basic research and trying to make another mundane issue seem sinister.

What does GWB have to do with this?

Wasn't he running these Executive Branch offices 10 years ago? Why do we have these rogue groups being set up? Where is the funding coming from? How many more of these groups did our fearless leader create that we haven't heard about yet?

GWB is turning out to be the most dangerous President since Woodrow Wilson.

GWB turned out to be a chip off of the olde globalist, One World Order, sellout to the Democrats, chip.  And now that he is smoozing up to Obama & Hillary & Co. (Soros)...

he is dead to me.

So Bush created an agency in Australia that started over 40 years ago?

(the US never had such a department, the only reference I can find to any other government having them is Australia, which, James Baker consulted for as well so that fits the pieces of which office they should look at).

Ok...(sigh).... let me explain this.... one more time.

I have my sort configured to show the latest post first... at the top.  That's what I generally post to when I haven't had time to read a thread from the beginning...

which is usually first thing when I wake up (not always "in the morning" mind you) ..and sans coffee.  So...

sue me.

PS.... I hated hall monitors and I think equally less of thread-topic ones.  Just sayin....

Fine, I'm suing you.

I can because I've had breakfast and two cups of coffee already.

Well... I'm working on my first cup, but I made it extra strong today, so...

see ya in court!   (and I rarely, if ever, eat breakfast... which probably explains a lot...lol)

The DoD has an Office of Net Assessment and a National Assessment Group so let's not go crazy over an error in terminology.

The title of the original has been changed to Office of Net Assessment so I've changed it here.

And, is that an actual US office?  We can take the Aussies out of the story?

Great.  Now, back to the more important question: what was he being paid for and who authorized it?

To be determined. But I think that such agencies, or their outside contractors, are full of people not much interested in our welfare. They come out of the universities, after all.

Yes, that was a rhetorical question.  You are correct about universities.

You can take the Aussies out of the story, but you can't take the story out of the Aussies.

My avatar shows the national debt in stacks of $100 bills.  If you look very closely under the crane you can see the Statue of Liberty.
