The shooting deaths of seven people at a rural property south of Perth are Australia's worse mass shooting since the 1996 Port Arthur massacre sparked new gun laws.

Seven people, including four children, were found dead from gunshot wounds early Friday at a property in southwest Australia, near the popular tourist town of Margaret River, police said.

It appears to be the country's deadliest mass shooting in 22 years.

Police were called before dawn to a residence in the village of Osmington, some 13 miles northeast of Margaret River and 170 miles south of Perth. There, officers discovered the bodies of three adults and four children, according to the Western Australia Police Force.

Two of the adults were found outside, while the other victims were inside a building on the rural property. Two firearms were recovered from the scene, police said.

Of course ABC makes a silk purse out of a sow's ear by turning the story into a thinly veiled criticism of US pro gun policy.

Although this is officially a mass shooting per the definition of shooting 5 or more people,  this is kind of like the kind of shooting one hears about from time to time, family shot at a farmhouse out in the country. Not exactly, like the mass shootings one hears about per malls, theaters, schools unfortunately and so on.

Three guns recovered from a rural Australia property where seven family members — including a mom and her four autistic kids — were shot to death, belonged to the clan’s grandfather, who authorities suspect is responsible for Australia’s worst mass shooting in 22 years, according to reports Saturday.

The weapons were all registered to Peter Miles and were found on his 30-acre sustainable farm in Osmington where he, along with three generations of his family were found dead of gunshot wounds on Friday, police said.  ...

Miles was found slumped in a chair on his porch with a firearm between his legs with head wounds, according to Perth Now.

His wife was discovered inside the home, and his daughter and her kids were found in a converted shed, the outlet reported. The shed was where his daughter lived with her kids, who were all home-schooled.  ... More
