Much of the money we send overseas ends up in Swiss bank accounts.   The leaders siphon it off. 

A local company has a food drive where they package up thousands of meals every year and send them to places in Africa.  They send food in by the truckload.

They have to hire guards because the govt officials will steal it then sell it.  The local populace gets nothing from what they steal.

A huge chunk of our tax dollars goes to foreign aid.  Then some of us give to various international charities to help the unfortunate.  I think we have done more than our share and i resent those who say we don't do enough. 

I refuse to be made to feel guilty for not becoming impoverished myself to give to the poor.  Most of us worked hard for what we have.  It's time for the "poor" to get up off their duffs and do something on their own to make their lives better.

A quick look at this organization's list of contributors makes it clear why Bush's call from the lectern to throw US taxpayer money around would generate such a big round of applause.

Actually if you study history...without the Federal Reserve the country was on the brink of collapse and the government was facing insolvency because the country only had $9 million in gold reserves and one single person had a draft note for $10 million in gold. The much despised "Robber Barons" actually pulled the country back from the brink with the creation of said bank.
