Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Source: Wiki...{{Bleachers is an American indie pop act based in New York City. It is the official stage name of songwriter and record producer Jack Antonoff, who is also part of the bands Steel Train, Fun, and Red Hearse. Bleachers' pop music was heavily influenced by the late '80s, early '90s and the high school-based films of John Hughes while still using modern production techniques. }}

   Moved on to 'Van' the Man for probably the rest of the afternoon.   @sneakypete

@corbe

That ain't exactly a sacrifice.

"I can hear her heartbeat from a thousand miles
And the heavens open up every time she smiles
And when I come to her that is where I belong
And I'm running through her like a rivers song…"

There is no monetary price too high for me to have been willing to pay to have been able to truthfully tell a woman I had written those lyrics for her.

There MIGHT be something you could do to really piss her off after that,but I can't think of what it would be. We are talking about a lifetime "Get out of jail/never get cut-off" card.

Especially if something truly impossible were to happen,and I could sing it to her and sound like that.

In any other band in the world, Alex Lifeson would be the stand out musician. But with Geddy Lee on bass and Neil Peart on drums, poor Alex is like the red haired step child of the group. It’s a shame because Alex is very, very good.

I saw Rush live at the Nissan Pavilion in 2002. By far the most amazing concert I’ve ever been to. And I’ve been to quite a few.

I have very eclectic tastes in music. You just never know what will be playing in my car or on my phone, at work or at home. One day or even in the same day, it’s classical, classic or modern jazz, blues, Motown, Elizabethan and medieval, Baroque, classic rock, pop of the 60’s and 70’s and 80’s, 90’s to early 2000’s grunge and hard rock, late 70’s punk and early 80’s new wave, “adult alternative” … not so much on the hip hop or most “country” but I do like bluegrass. I like traditional bluegrass but also “modern” bluegrass.

Today at work I was playing Pandora while I worked and put on the “Nickel Creek” channel – i.e. “modern bluegrass”.

For some reason I particularly love playing this type of music in the Fall of the year.

On Sunday, my roommate and I went to the National Apple Harvest Festival just outside of Gettysburg PA and among one of the many groups there was one playing traditional bluegrass, so I guess it put me in the mood. I put this station on while while driving through the beautiful rural PA country side on our way home, the trees with autumn leaves, past the many apple groves, through the many small towns and this song came on. Perfect driving music.

Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton step in to help save church organ
Staff writer Tue 22 Oct 2019 10:33 BST

Veteran rockers Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton have stepped in to help a local church's £650,000 organ appeal.

Chelsea Old Church in London had been trying for the last four years to raise enough funds to purchase a brand new organ after they were advised that their current 70-year-old one was beyond repair.

The church told the Scottish Daily Mail: "The old organ reached the end of its working life. Built as part of the post-war reconstruction, it used second-hand materials and now obsolete technology.

Read more at:  https://www.christiantoday.com/article/mick-jagger-eric-clapton-step-in-to-help-save-church-organ/133482.htm

I stumbled on this and thought I'd just post it here.  It's not the first time, that despite reputation, I've read of Jagger being involved in the church. Is it all an act they cultivate? An image?
