- As President Donald Trump pursues his goal of making the federal judiciary more conservative, his fellow Republicans who control the Senate are poised to confirm another batch of his picks for influential U.S. appeals courts to the dismay of some Democrats.

The Senate this week is set to take up six of Trump’s nominees to the regional appeals courts, including four from states that have at least one Democratic senator.

A long-standing Senate tradition that gave senators clout over judicial nominees from their home states has been fraying for years, meaning Democrats have less of a chance of blocking appointees they oppose, as they did with some success during Republican former President George W. Bush’s administration.

Would we have seen this from a president Jeb?
Or a president Carly?
Or a president lil' Marco?
Or a president ... what the heck's his name, his daddy was a mailman.
Or even from a president Cruz?

C'mon...

Your pal Bush was a "Conservative". Those were some great days.

What do we mean by 'conservative'?

Just read the law. Don't go pulling penumbras out of you ear based on the 'greater good'.

My 'Viking Hunter' High Adventure Alternate History Series is FREE, ALL 3 volumes, at most ebook retailers including Ibooks, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, and more.

In Vol 2 the weapons come out in a winner take all war on two fronts.

Vol 3 opens with the rigged murder trial of the villain in a Viking Court under Viking law to set the stage for the hero's own murder trial.

Pulling medical supplies out of his ear? Is that some sort of regional insult?

Why not?

FDA's been pulling rat poison out it's ear for decades and labeling it 'Medicine".

The hell he was. He's from the Moderate wing, and no pal of mine (*SPIT*).

Conservative means out of the Goldwater wing, and he SURE ain't that.

@Fishrrman

IMO one of the long-lasting effects that Trump has had (besides submitting budgets to Congress that add trillions to the debt) is on nominating conservatives to the judiciary.  As noted in the article from the OP, he’s ahead of Obama at this stage of his term on federal appeals nominations and there are still 148 federal vacancies to fill (thanks to Mitch McConnell).  This will positively impact the country for years to come.  Well done by the President!

@Concerned   Thanks for actually replying on the topic.  I agree with you.  The prominence of liberal judges has been a detriment to our country.  If Trump can replace most of them with conservatives that will be a real accomplishment.  As you say 'well done.'

Interesting.

I click on the link and got that good ol' "Page not found" message.

This may be the thing that will have the largest impact on us all, as these appointments are lifetime appointments.

Give Trump credit for a job well done here.

Yeah, pretty sure you're not allowed to post any comments pointing out positive accomplishments by POTUS.  Not in keeping with the narrative.
My avatar shows the national debt in stacks of $100 bills.  If you look very closely under the crane you can see the Statue of Liberty.

Damn Straight!

Get to Court as either a plaintiff or a defendant, armed to the teeth with what you need, and the way it is now you run a considerable risk of a Lib Judge telling it doesn't matter because the Jack of Outhouses from a Scooby Doo tarot deck takes precedence over Your 4 Aces/the actual law.

Yes and I doubt there would have been one Petersen among them.

Can't really brag about Gorsuch yet because he wiffed badly on the immigration ruling.  And the Libs seem to be in love with his pick for the 9th Circus.

The proof as to how Conservative they are will depend on how they rule on cases critical to the country.

Trump could nominate someone who on paper looks like the second coming of Justice Scalia...but turns out to make decisions like Justice Kennedy.

Time will tell.
The libs/dems of today are the Quislings of former years. The cowards who would vote a fraud into office in exchange for handouts from the devil.

Here lies in honored glory an American soldier, known but to God
