Washington (CNN) -- The Justice Department's inspector general has sent a criminal referral regarding former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe to the US attorney's office in Washington, according to a source familiar with the matter.

A McCabe spokesperson, the Justice Department and US attorney's office all declined to comment.

I hope that McCabe starts coming clean on what various FBI/DOJ people were doing during the election. And he may come clean if he sees that others are hanging him out to dry.

McCabe's attorney is out there saying the same. That way if he is prosecuted, they can spin it as "undue influence" from Trump.

I doubt that story will float with the public when shown to be lying under oath - and not about sex - but political/personal gain at others expense.

One questions: what took so long?
Are they going after the low level first hoping to get to the big fish, both Clintons, Lynch, Holder etc....?
