Research reveals insects were major food source millions of years ago

Insects could have accounted for almost half of the daily diet of early man millions of years ago, new research has claimed.

It had been assumed that early man lived on a diet of large mammal meat or nuts and leaves.

But academics from Heriot Watt-University and Wayne State University have revealed that insects could have been a major source of food for humans around 1.8 million years ago – making up almost 50 per cent of our ancestors diet.

Blech.   I'd rather starve.  And no, I haven't tried it.  And... don't intend to.

I don't see why not. Plentiful, full of protein and nutrients, fast growth cycles.

Heck, eating bugs from the ocean is pretty normal for us, why not land bugs.

Have you had crab, lobster, shrimp, crawfish?  Same stuff, different package.
