It's a check and balance on a legal system that isn't infallible.  Governors have the same power over state cases.

How indeed?  How is it, for instance, that a government entity.... like say... the IRS.... has the power to target, specifically, right-leaning folks or groups?  How is it that one political party has the power to procure a warrant to spy on their opposition during an election year and campaign?  Oh wait....

so much for that "check and balance" shtick.

Now wait a minute.  I believe in giving credit where credit is due.  I'm betting that there's some Soros $$$ floating around there too.

Well no duh. Where do you think the Rats get their cash now that Harvey is persona non grata?

I guess this would put the lie to the nonsense the NY Prosecutor isn't working with Mueller, as an employee would.  Kimba Wood, too.  The NY Prosecutor puts the screws to Cohen (who, for all I know, may deserve it), and Mueller gets to spring him in exchange for some Trump dirt.  Win-win.

Actually... I call it a stanky soup-mix of corruption.   And America lose-loses every time with crap like this.  With every single corroborated story we hear about it, Americans lose faith and trust in our system of government.   But then... our system of government is based on capitalism (vs. communism)... therefore, I suppose it would be a "win-win" for da commies.   ^-^

So...

Nevermind.

Right.  And now that plenty of folks are pissed off at Hillary for trashing their little god Bernie.

Had any of the individuals in question been charged or convicted, the president has the power to pardon them - that’s how.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

And... with "this" president, should he use that power, it will be just one more item listed on those articles of impeachment....used against him.   Not a very good "power" after all, eh?

He has pardoned three people, already.  So, I’m not sure what you’re talking about.

How so? Presidential Pardon powers are absolute and some of the most unrestricted things in the Constitution.

I'm talking about the idiot left using people Trump has pardoned or will pardon (like Cohen, should he need to) against him via articles of impeachment.   They will use it like they're using everything else they can dredge up ....against him.   They will claim it's another example of obstruction of justice.  So, logically....it's not much of a "power" if/when it can (or will) be used against you.   Right?

@Frank Cannon

Lawyer who said, "all the boxes are checked" so Cohen flips.  I'll look him up.

It was "Gerald Leonard "Gerry" Spence (born January 8, 1929) is a semi-retired American trial lawyer. He is a member of the American Trial Lawyers Hall of Fame.  Spence has never lost a criminal case either as a prosecutor or a defense attorney. He has not lost a civil case since 1969."

There are Federal Judges who seem to have forgotten that.  The one in Phoenix required Joe Arpaio to file (and defend) motions to dismiss AFTER he got his Presidential Pardon.
For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16
I will NOT comply.

Uh.... so is firing of insubordinate (and/or corrupt, lying, leaking) employees.  But that's not stopping the left from using Trump's firing of Comey against him.  Just sayin....

LOL. You are listening to Gerry Spence like he knows something and is credible? Did he have his stupid fringe jacket on while he was running his mouth?

You said it was going to be used in the impeachment. It can't. Spinning nonsense in the MSM is a whole separate matter and if they pick that scab, their hero Holder will be exposed for his shady work on pardons.

There are no obstruction or abuse of power risks with the people he has already pardoned. If he pardons Cohen during an active investigation, they may try.  Even if they don’t, he’d be crippled politically, so I wouldn’t expect him to do it.

And see....right there.  You just made my point.

It's not much of a "power".... if you can be cowed and essentially prevented from using it...

purely due to political reasons or pressures.

Case in point... Bush not full-pardoning Scooter Libby.  GWB was afraid of the political backlash from the idiot left.

He was last seen dressed in a New Kids on the Block T shirt and a rat tail wig infiltrating a High School in Nebraska so he can bust kids smoking joints in the parking lot after school.

Part of the warrant is redacted, but he is aware of the content.  We don’t know if it included something for which he’s already recused himself.

He's starting to remind me (a lot) of One-Bullet Barney Fife.  Only....

he doesn't even have, much less use, that one bullet...

except for when it comes to going after those eeeevil pot smokers.

There’s no backlash if he does it on his way out.  Obama was already elected.  He chose Option B - commutation.
