North and South Korea reportedly set to announce official end to war

    Ahead of a summit next week between North Korean premier Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-In, lawmakers from the neighboring states were thought to be negotiating the details of a joint statement that could outline an end to the confrontation.

    Pyongyang and Seoul have technically been at war since the 1950-1953 Korean conflict ended with a truce — and not a peace treaty.

Ahead of a summit next week between North Korean premier Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in, lawmakers from the neighboring states were thought to be negotiating the details of a joint statement that could outline an end to the confrontation.

Kim and Moon could also discuss returning the heavily-fortified demilitarized zone separating them to its original state, the newspaper said...

No matter what Kim agrees to, he isn't giving up his nuclear bomb capability - he has worked too many years to accomplish it.  He has an ulterior motive for what he is doing right now - likely wanting South Korea to go along with him against the west - us.  I watched a documentary about North Korea and every citizen wants us dead; that is the main purpose for their life, to get rid of us.  They were told the US, during the Korean conflict, buried their people alive. No one should believe Kim wants peace.  He does not until he nuclear bombs the US out of existence.

Now back to reality, NORKS have been constantly putting out these little carrots for decades, usually negotiating some concession. There isn't anything new about this other than the reporting. Once they get to the table, like 2014, 2004, 1993, etc, the NORKS will make a huge list of demands that can't be met then walk away.

This is something they do every few 8-10 years or so. Madeleine Albright even got suckered into going there to help negotiate something like this back in 2000. Nothing became of it and it just emboldened the NORKS. The nutjob leader wants recognition and attention.

All that is true -- unless the reports of a catastrophic mishap with the NORK nuke program are true.  In that case, perhaps their best play is to agree to "give it up".

There is no way the ROK will align against us.  Their fear of the Chinese is far too strong to not want to have a strong ally to counterbalance that.
