The Bush Center's Forum on Leadership: 'When we invite, the world comes' Dallas News, Apr 15, 2018, Dalton LaFerney
When the George W. Bush Presidential Center sends invitations to a three-day conference on some of the world's most pressing issues, people like Jeff Bezos, Bono, Condoleezza Rice, Ben Bernanke and John Boehner RSVP yes.
Starting April 18, the former president and first lady will host the Forum on Leadership at the Bush Center, where policy wonks and international influencers will gather for in-depth discussions about leadership, governing in a complex world, education, economic growth, veterans' transition and the coming challenges of technological disruptions.
The event marks the fifth anniversary of the center's opening, which was attended by all five living U.S. presidents at the time: Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George Bush and Barack Obama.
The CEO of Amazon, the lead singer of U2 and former leaders of the U.S. State Department and Federal Reserve Board will speak at the Forum on Leadership along with other notables including Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper and New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez.
"What I've found is when you engage leaders, they will be attracted to events and venues that match what they're about," said Kenneth Hersh, CEO and president of the Bush Center. "When a presidential center like ours speaks, the world listens. When we invite, the world comes."
