The Gateway Pundit
by Kristinn Taylor
April 11, 2018

Never-Trump leader Erick Erickson reported Tuesday night via Instagram and Twitter an alleged conversation he had with an unnamed Republican Congressman over his and many of his fellow GOP Congressmen’s hatred of President Donald Trump and their willingness to “take out the President” through impeachment if he fires Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

This would be their punishment for what they fear to be the loss of their Congressional majorities in the House and Senate come the November elections.

Erickson said the Congressman is afraid to speak out publicly because he would be primaried and voted out by the Trump supporters in his district.

A transcript and embed of Erickson’s Instagram post in which the Republican Congressman is quoted as saying they and others are prepared to “take out the President”:

You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.
Rational fear and anger at vicious murderous Islamic terrorists is the same as irrational antisemitism, according to the Leftists.

Sounds good.

Wow.  You really long for the status quo.   Sorry change is too messy for you.

That was quite a rant.  Much of it rings true, but the congressman does not acknowledge any of his own failings.  The GOP civil war is likely to resurface this fall.

I see reckless spending, abandoning principles of conservatism, capitulation with rats, betrayal, scandal, and maybe war as the status quo.

You’re right. According to recent polls establishment republicans are on the outs. This is Trump’s GOP now.

Isn't it just like the GOPe to begin talking about 'taking out Trump' just as he breaks the 50% popularity barrier.

Yet, Nixon took a big fall, Ford replaced him for the remainder of his 2nd term until 1976.

And in 1980 Reagan was elected. The guy that used to be pictured on this very site.

Republicans held the Presidency for the next 12 years and America was better for it. (not perfect, much to the never-ending dismay of "true conservatives")

This isn't the same people, culture, society or country that it was back in the 1970's and 80's.

Your hoped-for cyclical repeat of history is a fantasy of proportions that cannot be measured.

Back then, the GOP leadership did not tell their Christian base to shut up or get lost - and back then the GOP wasn't just another arm of the Democrat Party.

Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

Sounds good.

Pence is a loser. He was about to lose reelection to Gregg before Trump saved his ass and offered him the VP slot. He also has the charisma of a dead fish.

Francis.  That is all fine and good.  Personality is highly overrated.  A dead fish is what the nevers want.

Reagan was despised by the Country Club Rockefeller Republican establishment.

I can see why. Wild animals love to feed on dead fish.

Close. I don't give a rusty shit about personality. It doesn't matter a whit.
What does matter is Conservatism, and Pence is 100 times the Conservative Tump is, and there ain't no denying that.

They don't want Conservatism.

They want an immoral street brawler that tickles their base instincts and will say or do whatever they think is necessary to punish and drive into fits, those they hate and despise.

They don't care what their actual fruits of character are.  As long as they say what they want to hear, and they create illusions by the power of their breath and sleight-of-hand, they prefer the showman over substance.

That is where the 'Conservative movement' has arrived.

It's no longer 'Conservative'.  It's populist.  Even if the mechanics are Socialist or Fascist - they no longer care.  They will label them Republican and 'good'.  Such as trillion dollar deficit spending budgets and ObamaCare being renamed Trumplicare.

In all candor, I've not felt a sense of political conviction from you --- excepting, of course, your hatred of Donald Trump.   So, I'm not buying what you're selling here.

I don't normally agree with @Frank Cannon when it comes to GOP Politics but in this case he is right @Right_in_Virginia.  You may need to do a refresher read on the Religious Liberty Bill in Indiana that he totally flubbed, proving to most his so called 'Conservative Principles' are wishy washy and for sale to the highest bidder. He's not as bad as Trump but not much better on the grand scale of things.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.
