Trump Tower Fire: President Says Flames Seen Billowing From 5th Avenue Building Are Now Out

A fire broke out on one of the top floors of Trump Tower, a large building in midtown Manhattan owned by President Donald Trump.

The 3-alarm fire was reported shortly after 5:30 p.m. EDT on Saturday, the FDNY said. Videos posted to social media showed flames pouring out of what appeared to be one of the uppermost floors of the 58-story building. Firefighters were on scene, battling the flames.

The person who died was a resident of the building's 50th floor who had been taken to the hospital in critical condition, department spokeswoman Angelica Conroy told CNN.

Trump Tower was not built using structural steel framing. It was built much stronger than that using reinforced concrete.

Wiki: “The tower is a reinforced concrete shear wall core structure. At the time of its completion, it was the tallest structure of its type in the world. ... A concrete hat-truss at the top of the building, similar to one used in the Trump World Tower, ties exterior columns with the concrete core.”

Lower floors of Trump Tower have sprinklers. But, with few exceptions, no tower in NYC built before 2000 have sprinklers, unless the building underwent major renovation since its construction which must then meet the post-2000 code.

But, true to form the mob shows up to muddy the waters with misinformation. Even the fire commissioner in his public statement after the fire event said Trump Tower is a well built building that met all fire codes.
