FOX News FoxNews.com 6 hrs ago

Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens acknowledged he was "unfaithful" in his marriage but denied allegations that he blackmailed the woman with whom he had the affair.

The Republican governor and his wife released a statement Wednesday night. It came after St. Louis television station KMOV-TV reported that Greitens had a sexual relationship with his former hair stylist in 2015.

The governor made no mention of any plans to resign.

Hyperactive Missouri Gov. Greitens touts his physical feats
By SUMMER BALLENTINE and MARGARET STAFFORD Associated Press

Rappelling into a bull-riding rodeo event , crawling through dirt in a SWAT obstacle course and entering a burning building with firefighters.

These could be action movie stunts by Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Hollywood star turned California governor.

But they were all done by another governor earning a reputation for public displays of physical prowess — Eric Greitens of Missouri.

Greitens under fire as Missouri House launches probe; prosecutors may seek more charges
By Kurt Erickson St. Louis Post-Dispatch

JEFFERSON CITY • In a historic decision, the Missouri House formally launched an investigation Monday that could lead to the impeachment and ouster of Gov. Eric Greitens.

House Speaker Todd Richardson named seven members to a special committee that will lead the unprecedented probe of a Missouri chief executive. The hastily formed panel will be chaired by Rep. Jay Barnes, R-Jefferson City.  ...

Greitens, a political newcomer who won the 2016 general election with 51 percent of the vote over former Attorney General Chris Koster, has hired a private law firm to handle his case in court, as well as a public relations company to help burnish an image that was once being groomed for a run for president.   ... by David M. Drucker
April 09, 2018 09:07 AM

Lawyers for embattled Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens are demanding that prosecutors share exculpatory information after the woman who has accused him of blackmailing her admitted she couldn't recall if Greitens took pictures of her with his smartphone.

Greitens earlier this year was indicted on felony invasion of privacy, accused by his former mistress of blackmailing her to keep their affair quiet. But in a deposition, the woman, who has not been publicly named, conceded that she could not recall whether Greitens took revealing pictures of her with his smartphone as part of the alleged blackmail.

In a copy of the seven-page motion, obtained by the Washington Examiner, Greitens’ mistress said she might have imagined the governor’s actions in a “dream.” Greitens had not yet been elected governor at the time of their sexual affair. In the motion, his former mistress is referred to as “K.S.” ...  More at Washington Examiner
