Gowdy: Trump should let Mueller interview him

South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy (R) urged President Trump to interview with special counsel Robert Mueller in order to help wrap up the Russia probe on Wednesday, arguing the president is "uniquely" qualified to answer many of Mueller's questions.

In an interview with CNN, the chairman of the powerful House Oversight and Government Reform Committee argued that speaking with Mueller is not "risky" for Trump if he has nothing to hide.

"Only he knows what he knows. So I would tell you, if you did not rob a bank there is no reason for you not to sit down and talk with the FBI about the bank robbery," Gowdy said.

After seeing person after person get prison time for process crimes unrelated to the investigations they are being looked into for, this is a stupid comment from Gowdy.

Gowdy must be confusing talking with the DOJ/FBI with talking to a congressional oversight committee, from which nothing usually happens but words, words, words.

Oh wait, He used to be a prosecutor. He tells us at every instance.

Although I generally agree with Gowdy, I’m afraid he’s wrong on this one.  Given how this President can’t seem to go any substantial period of time without telling some falsehood (at least IMO), his talking to Mueller could be disastrous.   If subpoenaed, I think he should just take the 5th.

Gowdy has been compromised (podded).  That much is clear.   It's never a good idea to "let" the FBI 'interview' you.... especially if/when that FBI ee has already demonstrated a clear and present danger and intent to bring you down, any way possible.

No matter how good Trump thinks he is – and he is good; he’s been a part of many serious litigations over the years and has never made a significant flub during intense interviews or testimony – however, the Mueller team is better. They hold the hammer and Trump shouldn’t voluntarily agree to be the nail.

In the end however, I don’t think he will agree to be interviewed.

Gowdy must be upset with Trump over something.  That’s the only way this suggestion makes sense.
