The four crew members aboard a U.S. Marine Corps helicopter that crashed in Southern California on Tuesday are presumed dead, authorities say.

A CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter from the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing went down “in the vicinity” of El Centro during a routine training mission, according to a statement from the Miramar air station near San Diego. The crash occurred at approximately 2:35 p.m., the statement said.

The head of Marine Corps aviation told Congress in November his CH-53 fleet was ‘inadequate,’ noting he only had 143 out of 200 required helicopters on the flight line and of those only 37 percent could fly.

The cause of the crash was under investigation. The crash would be the deadliest for the Marines since a July crash in the Mississippi Delta, which killed all 16 aboard.

Per that Omnibus bill, it's dreadful but per reading this, maybe we really do need to fund the military more, let alone, some foreign involvement costs and costs a lot. We have 160 bases or something like that around the world? A lot of that can be looked at.
